it is monday

so i am wearing my "i know i look frumpy, but i don't care" sweater. It is not the worst "i know i look frumpy, but i don't care" sweaters i own. it is black with red flowers and it is from Guatemla, and some people, myself included, like it. frankly, it is not that fashionable for a student and a person my age, but it is monday, and that is what i wear on mondays

Free at Last

Freedom is being able to chose which book to read first.

It is been a rough week and it is only Wednesday, but at least I don't have to think philosophically tonight. I have 4 readings to do and two are not "textbooks."

Journaling

My good friend suggests writing for 20 minutes or so before you start in on a paper, because it is supposed to get all those synapses going. I am about to write a three page paper critically reviewing and thinking about a philosophical reading from our textbook. I read about Tao and Nature and the Creator. I am a little confused about the point that the author was trying to make. The implied suggestion is that we need to be in tandem with nature, but the author does not give a suggestion on how to do this. Nor does he really give a full argument on why to do this. It is mostly stated problems and solutions.

So I think my thesis might be something like: Chuang-tzu suggests that living at peace with nature is the best way to live, but fails to explain why or how. Despite the flaws with his writing, he does make suggestion that have strong implication, and aspects of his view are applicable to my Christian faith.

Or maybe: Chuang-tze presents the conflict between man and nature. I intend to critically asses his reasoning and write of the effects of his argument, both in general and to me personally as a Christian.

Well that is all.

Weed

If it is bad, uproot it.
What is bad?
Anything that does not edify God.
Who determines what is edifying?
Those who read the Bible and believe it.
What have they found, and why can't they agree?

SNOW

It snowed last night, like, mounds and mounds.
We had a school wide snowball fight.
I enjoyed targeting the same person 5 times.
Yeah, pretty sure he still does not know that I am the one who hit him.

Minneapolis looks lovely, today.
All white and dressed up.
What makes it even better is that:

Today there are no day classes.
For today we remember:

Martin Luther King Jr.

and

all that he stood for

all that he did

all that has happen since...because of his vision.

Two different ideas:

snow
and
MLK.

One action for both:

Thieving on the floor

We have been instructed to keep our doors locked when we are gone.
The reason:
$150 stolen out of a wallet
a credit card stolen and used for >$600

the sick thing is:
it is probably the same person and someone on our floor

I guess I am just sad
because I can not imagine that any one on this floor would do that

However,
need or want some

times

takes over. (sigh)

Break!

Mostly, I simply want to remember all the events of this break:
Watching giant waves crash way far out at Moss Landing.
Picking out new jeans to get for Christmas, buying Dad an umbrella for his birthday.
Picking up Jimi, Petey, and Abby, waiting around for their delayed flight at Panera's Bread.
Going to the Twin Lakes Christmas Concert, laughing at "Rescue's" song about the womb, thoroughly enjoying the battling guitar and piano in time to wacked out lights.
Driving along and watching the waves, stopping and playing with just the edges.
Looking for a mother of the Groom dress for Mom with Abby
Going to The Tech, seeing the I-MAX about Greece, playing with every gadget, especially the projected Earth, eating at both Asqewer and In-N-Out Burger
Going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, eating at First Awakengings, hanging at the Leonards, going to Beverly's
Watching a couple games of "Settlers"
Making a hat for Abby.
Hanging with Tessa Shae.
Having Christmas with most of the Prices.
Going to the Christmas Eve service, lighting candles.
Opening stockings, put together well by Rachel (I got the coolest "hello kitty" coloring book and crayons)
Having Christmas with all the immediate family Simons.
Playing Tetreis Attack and Yoshi's Island
Making earrings with Abby.
Surviving the crazy crazy wind storm.
Going to SFO @ 3 am, eating breakfast at some crazy family restraunt, finding it.
Studying for the PPST, Taking it, getting more points than I needed :) on at least 2 of the 3 parts, going out to "Fresh Choice" afterwards. Looking for a Mother of the Groom dress for mom, finding a coat for Tessa instead. And then going to the beach with Max, Patric, mom and dad.
Getting to have dinner with Mic and Rachel again and again.
Going to Monterey with only Patric, walking for two hours, going to New Year's Eve eve service, chatting with Josh and Daniel, seeing Jess's new home above her home.
Getting ready for a New Year's Eve party, having it, having people leave before Midnight, ringing in the New Year quietly as the ball drops on tv, then watching 6-8 different locations of fireworks out the window.
Chilling, going to the beach to see extra low tide, playing with tide pools, eating burgers at home.
Going to the super organized dump with Dad, sharing a Suzy Q bought with the spoils of recycling.
Going to a nursing home with Jess and Lil' Leah, eating at Dharama's, shopping at "Trader Joe's."
Cleaning the skylight, roof, and gutters.
Going for a jog, playing rummy, golf, and speed scrabble with mom and dad. winning golf, losing scrabble, mom won rummy.
Taking late night walks with Patric.
Reading Benno's Bear.
