Apples

To thee apple orchard I went
In a wagon I did ride,
A little smiling girl, excited by my side
From the tree an apple I grasped
placed it in the bag at last
the little girl-she did too.
Little money had I so we picked only a few.
The sun shone just right
on our apple picking delight.
But, a pumpkin
a pumpkin
A PUMPKIN
is what I truly desired.
through the pile I sifted
for the pumpkin that was gifted.
The present of autumn joy,
the orange squash possessed.
But is was the smile it gave
it was that, that was the best.
